IHRA Newcomer Tindle Among Top Qualifiers at Rockingham
After four qualifying sessions, Tindle was pleased to have one of the most consistent cars on the property.
ROCKINGHAM, NC – IHRA Promod newcomer Tim Tindle raced his Ford GT500E Promod mustang to the No. 3 qualifying position Saturday at the 3rd Annual IHRA Spring Nationals, Rockingham, NC. After four qualifying sessions, Tindle was pleased to have one of the most consistent cars on the property.
“I’m excited about our results,” Tindle said. “We had a good feeling coming into this race and we are performing well. We were hoping to get top qualifying on Friday and Saturday, but Ricky Smith and Kenny Lang snagged the top spots.
Tindle led the first qualifying session up until Ricky Smith bumped him out of top qualifier during the last lap of the session. He posted the fastest qualifying pass of the third qualifying session (6.04) and then his quickest elapsed time of the weekend during the final session; 5.97, 236mph. This earned Tindle the No.3 position going into Sunday’s eliminations.
Tindle will face the No. 14 qualifier Chip King for the first round of eliminations tomorrow.
