Goodguys Racing Team All Smiles After “Pro Slammer” Three-Peat

(6-20-2012) Pleasanton, CA – It’s been a great summer so far for Marc Meadors and the Goodguys Racing Team from Pleasanton, California. The flamed ’69 Pro Mod Camaro “Pure Hell2” with Meadors at the wheel has been both fast and lucky this year, collecting three-straight series wins in the Pro Mod division of the newly formed Pro Slammer Door Car Association.

All three series wins came at Sacramento Raceway Park including last weekend’s big Funny Car Fever show, where Meadors dispatched Brett Williamson in the Gore family ’53 Studebaker on a holeshot win 6.27/237 to the loser’s quicker 6.26/226. That made it two-straight final round wins over Williamson in Pro Slammer competition as Meadors got him back on June 3rd as well. At last month’s NHRA Pacific National Open it was Monty Berney’s “Big Bertha” ’55 Chevy falling victim to the Goodguys Racing Camaro.

Running numbers is one thing (Meadors ran 6.17/248mph at the June 3rd race – good for Low ET and top speed of the meet) but going rounds and winning events brings a team together faster than anything. “We’re starting to really gel as a race team,” Meadors said when looking back on the three-peat. “Our outstanding crew has been together for three years now and we’re learning how to win. This summer has been our best yet and we look to get stronger as the season progresses,” he said.

None of this would be possible without the hard working crew that puts in the time to prep the car before each race as well as thrashing on it when needed between rounds. Meadors gave kudos to Crew Chief Jason Bunker and fellow crew members Danny Miller and Billy Feriera. “We do this with a 3-member volunteer team which is about half of the size of most Pro Mod teams” Meadors said. “Our results speak for themselves!”

The team is coming up on a busy stretch. They’ll race the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Class at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma July 20-22, then head north for a match race against Rod Burbage’s ’58 Corvette at the Goodguys Friday Night Drags, July 27th at Pacific Raceway. From Seattle they’ll head east to Boise for the 41st Pepsi Nightfire Nationals August 9-12 at Firebird Raceway.

The team would also like to thank the many partners and sponsors that make this all happen……Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, Red Line Oil, Tim Mcamis Race Cars, Neal Chance Torque Converters, Andy’s T Shirts, Brad Anderson Enterprises, Fiber Optic Supply and Bunker Race Cars.
