Status of the 2007 AMS Staff Leasing Pro Modified Challenge is undetermined at this time, and plans for the 2007 schedule will not be released until a commitment is made. According to a statement from long-time series sponsor Dave Woods, should additional funding not be committed before the Las Vegas event October 26-29, his sponsorship will be withdrawn.
"I want to be clear, that we are not saying that the series is in jeopardy at all -- actually quite the opposite," Matthew Brammer, series director, said. "Dave wants to make it clear to all racers that we will not drag out the decision beyond that point. He is drawing a line in the sand. He knows what's involved in racing and planning, and feels that in all fairness to everyone involved, a timeline must be set."
According to Brammer, there are several leads on additional title sponsors and partners, but none has, of yet, committed to back the fan-favorite series.
"It's difficult to gain commitments from companies without a solid future plan, but we are working with NHRA as well as some major corporations to shore up the long-term for the Pro Mods."
Woods also indicated that he is very open to working with a company looking for an incredible branding association, and that if there were any interested parties at all, to contact Brammer for any information at all.
"I'm not throwing in the towel at all, or waving a white flag - it's much too early to do that. Quite the opposite. I have had some incredible conversations over the past several days here at Indy, and following up on those is my top priority. I'm working closely with Dave, Jeff Lynn and the rest of the current sponsors in order to keep this series healthy.
"Dave felt it was important that people know what is going on and where things are, and I completely agree," he said. "I've tried hard to communicate with drivers, fans and NHRA about everything this year.
"I really do feel strongly we can meet his deadline, and that the companies I am working with will help make this series even stronger."
Brammer indicated plans for a new television format in 2007, along with the addition of off-site displays and other Pro Mod events."I'm very positive about this, and am making plans for the future while we get the right partner to go there with us."Interested parties can contact Brammer at:
