Chris Hunt's...Trans Am?
Here's another memorable pic from Mooresville's 1990 WCS race. Chris Hunt rolled to the line in this car, and I did a double take. I went ahead and took this picture, and then went straightway to their pit and asked, "Did you guys get another race car"? Chris smiled and said, "Actually we just put a Trans Am front end on our Camaro and wrote Pontiac across the window". I was 18 years old in 1990, and I thought, "Dang, those guys are cool"!

Re: Chris Hunt's...Trans Am?
Damn,
That is funny, we did just the opposite. Dad had a Trans am, same body style as the pic. We wanted to run the Super Chevy Shootout, so we fabricated some fake headlight covers and tail light covers, had them airbrushed and..... Poof -its a Camaro! We figured that if Manny DeJesus could call his car a Nova and get away with it we could call ours a Camaro, it worked. I will try to get my scanner up and rolling, and post a pic.

Re: Chris Hunt's...Trans Am?
Here is the pic Van. This is at the 1992 Sunoco Super Chevy Shootout in Seattle. In the background you can see Joe Delehay's Pro Mod Pickup. In the red t-shirt is another West Coast Pro Mod racer, Rod Pearce. I am at the far right of the pic, I was 19.
An interesting (bad) thing happened on this pass, someone (me) forgot to tighten down the nitrous bottles in the rack, when my dad hit the chutes, both bottles came flying out of the rack and hit the firewall, the nitrous line contacted the Ford style starter solenoid, which caused an arc and made a hole in the line, filling the cockpit with nitrous. We qualified # 6 or so but had to throw the run out because we came up light at the scales, due to emptying the 15+ pounds of nitrous. Guess who triple checks
the nitrous bottles now?
Also of note, this was one of the first races that Monty Berney showed up with the original "Big Bertha" '55 Chevy. At the time it was the fastest "street legal" '55.

Awesome idea to race Super Chevy, Rob. Try to send more pics in your collection, and don't forget to secure those N20 bottles!
