Gary McKee
Here's a cool shot of Gary McKee waiting in the staging lanes. This is from Tommy Mauney's photo album. Gary went on to race in Pro Modified's early days at Quick-8 tracks like Shuffletown and Farmington.

Re: Gary McKee
I remember that car, Gary always had beautiful paint on his cars. I miss those modified eliminator days of racing. There will never be anything like it again.

Hi Jared, Shuffletown was always referred to as being in Charlotte, NC - but I doubt that was their actual address - probably more on the outskirts of the big city.

Re: Gary McKee
Here is another one of Gary McKee's sportsman race cars. We've seen him in a modified Corvette, and now this TM Race Cars C/G Monza. McKee went on to race in Pro Modified in the early 1990's, driving one of the most beautiful Camaros ever built. The constant message of "Day Dreamer" appeared on every car that I can remember or have seen pictures of. I found this snap shot in the photo album of Tommy Mauney.

Re: Gary McKee
the Monza followed his F/Modified Production camaro. This car eventually rolled in Bristol I believe. It was a screamer - 4-speed and Fulton small block.
I remember the first time I saw Gary at Spartanburg Dragway in 1979. He towed the car in an enclosed trailer. That was so uncommon in those days that i thought it was a Funny car.

Re: Gary McKee
Shuffletown Dragway, or whats left of it, is located in Charlotte. Its off of the Brookshire Freeway, about 15 to 20 minutes from downtown... or if its a friday afternoon, about 2 hours from downtown. You can still see the old Pepsi sign if you look off to the right while going over the bridge. 'Shuffletown' was actually a little town outside of the city, but was annexed in the early 90's. All of the old businesses that made 'Shuffletown' unique have all but disappeared. I drove through there a few months back, and it was really sad.
